Olive Oil Tourism in Umbria

Visit the Marfuga® olive mill and discover Extra Virgin Olive Oil in the heart of Umbria

There are places you can simply visit, and others that must be tasted to be truly discovered. In Campello sul Clitunno, between Spoleto and Trevi, olive trees have shaped the landscape and the lives of local people for centuries. This is where Marfuga® was born, and where we invite you to discover our world through an olive oil tourism experience made of olive groves, aromas, flavours and knowledge. Visiting our olive mill means discovering first-hand how high-quality extra virgin olive oil is made: from the olives to milling, from storage to bottling, all the way to tasting. A journey into Umbrian Extra Virgin Olive Oil that also tells the story of the land where it originates.

Oil Tells the Story of the Land

Umbria is home to one of Italy’s most fascinating olive-growing landscapes. Between Assisi and Spoleto, olive trees have shaped the hillsides for centuries, alongside terraces, dry-stone walls, historic villages and the roads that cross this part of the region. It is a landscape slowly shaped by both people and nature, where olive growing is not simply an agricultural activity, but an integral part of the identity of the land itself. This is the most authentic meaning of olive oil tourism: not simply tasting an oil, but discovering the place, the people and the work behind it. During a visit to Marfuga®, you can step inside the olive mill, learn about the different stages of production and discover how to recognise the aromas, characteristics and differences between extra virgin olive oils through guided tasting. And by choosing one of our dedicated experiences, you can go beyond the olive mill and visit our olive groves, immersing yourself directly in the landscape where it all begins.

An Experience in the Heart of Umbria

Marfuga® is located in Campello sul Clitunno, an ideal location for anyone visiting Umbria who wants to enrich their journey with an experience dedicated to extra virgin olive oil and the culture of the region. Spoleto and Trevi are just a short distance away, while in Campello sul Clitunno itself you can visit the Tempietto del Clitunno, an extraordinary example of early medieval architecture included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site “The Longobards in Italy. Places of the Power”. A visit to the olive mill can therefore become part of a broader journey through Umbria: art, historic villages, landscapes and flavours, all connected by a land where olive-growing culture has accompanied travellers for centuries.
